Introduce
Picture books are like movies for all audiences. Because it is a beautiful work of art that both children and adults can see and enjoy. A good picture book gives both children and adults a different feeling and joy. It also makes you discover life and the universe anew every time you see it.
'Picture Book Activists' are wise and beautiful friends who introduce good picture books to readers of all generations and convey the healing and happiness power of picture books. In a word, it refers to a friend who knows how to draw natural self-expression and communication through picture books.
In this course, students learn general knowledge and culture about picture books and life, such as the history of picture books, production, creation, play, selection, and reading comprehension. In addition, based on this, practice continues so that students can research and develop teaching methods that can voluntarily elicit empathy and communication from all generations, from children to the elderly.
*Mr. Ruri Lee is a picture book writer, critic, and editor-in-chief of Polar Bear. You will be able to experience the charm of exchanging picture books that can transcend different perspectives on picture books and generational differences through your experience of walking the path of an expert while encountering picture books from various perspectives.

*Graduated from the Department of German Language and Literature, Korea University College of Liberal Arts.

Born in Seoul in 1969. After I first tasted the happiness of picture books at the age of 30, the direction of my life changed. I liked picture books, so I started writing book reviews to convey the happiness of picture books, and thanks to my seniors who loved picture books, I also started translating children's books. In 2009, when I was forty-one, I founded Polar Bear, a picture book publishing house with my partner, Soon-Young Lee, who dreamed of becoming a translator, and debuted as a writer at forty-two.
The polar bear coda series, including their debut works 『Polar Bear Coda, Black Nose』, 『Black Coda』 and 『Polar Bear Coda, Ho』, were exported to 11 countries, including France, Italy, and Spain, and gained worldwide fame. In addition, as the editor of Polar Bear Publishing House, he participated in major book fairs such as the Bologna Book Fair and Frankfurt Book Fair since 2011 with CEO Soon-Young Lee, contributing to the export of creative picture books. As a result, Polar Bear Publishing House has established itself as a world-class picture book publisher within 10 years of its establishment.
In 2014, Iruri Books (formerly Frederick Books), a bookstore specializing in picture books, opened the door to create a boom in picture book bookstores and independent bookstores. In 2016, the video lecture <Picture Book, Touching the Hearts of Our Classes> was opened at the Ice Cream Training Center, and it was enthusiastically loved by teachers across the country. He also appeared in CBS's <15 Minutes That Changed the World>, giving a calming impression.
Ruri Lee proposed the <Imaginative Book Painting Exhibition> co-hosted by the Wow Book Art Center and Naver Grafolio, and has been participating as a judge since the first episode. In addition, through the <Iruri Bologna Workshop>, we are constantly nurturing new artists, proving that everyone is born as an artist. In addition, the <Picture Book Activists Workshop> is held to spread the happiness of picture books together with picture book activists. Picture Book Activist Workshop Review
It felt like I was on a journey into a book, away from reading. I was happy.
I read a picture book that I used to treat professionally with my heart. I gained comfort, courage, and hope through picture books. I was able to understand various thoughts and feelings while reading the students' different impressions and recommendations. In the future, I want to spread the happiness virus by planning my own program using picture books. It was a perfect class!
I was able to meet various picture books. It was a time of rest in life. It was also a great pleasure to hear various evaluations, insights, and impressions of picture books. Thank you.
I was happy for 12 weeks. I waited for class all week. I discovered myself in a new way through picture books. I have a burning desire to let other people know about this joy and to be with them!
I went around having fun, feeling like I was playing around, and the 12 weeks flew by. I think I've grown a little more without knowing it while laughing and crying with emotion. It was a time to know and love myself more. In the future, I will never forget how much play and fun free me from rigidity and help me love myself more. Thank you for making it a happy time.
From the history of picture books to detailed information on picture book publishing, it was a class with nothing to miss. Through various picture book introductions and book games, students gain advanced information that can be used in actual picture book classes. I recommend it to those who want to talk about picture books and life.
