"We're living like this".
These stories are funny, calm and beautiful.
As if life is like that for both children and adults!
The story of me, you, all of us.
Living is a story of people who turn around and look closely at their own footprints. Sometimes stopping by bookstores and looking around are full of stories of people who are better off, go further, and go better. But it's more of an utopia than we are. In other words, the voices of people fighting loudly on the street without knowing what to be embarrassed, the expression of a friend crying louder in my pain, and the cowardly shoulders of others who squeeze in a gap on the subway on their way home from work are more like us. This book adds meaning to everyone's ordinary life. I believe this book will be a special help to you if you sometimes want to go back in time and touch the puzzle marks of your life once more.
Various names appear in this book. Jon, who recognized the sadness of loss and absence too early, Srecko, who gave up his dream to a stable life, Andesh, who lives a life hidden behind his younger brother, Dick, who remembers life as a scent, Thor, who thinks about what he really is after seeing him, a person with a sad gaze looking at the world, Francis, who lives by believing in good hearts and possibilities, Mathias, who always hides his real face in the heart of having to please someone, and Lasse, who knows who he is but lives according to the standards of the world. All of these names are also your names.
Thinking about the role and phase of life
Most children live their daily lives full of life, and they grow up day by day. In the process, I constantly think and ask about how the world flows, what the meaning of life is, what death is, what adults are, and what the future will be. This is part of the growth that children must go through. Kids want to get answers to these questions, but no one can answer them clearly. In fact, even adults don't know. Teresa Glard, the author of the book, pays attention to this and interviews nine adults to find an answer to this question.
We are given a role in our lives, and we constantly strive to live in its form or break it. The reference points include gender, siblings, family environment, and future hope, and this book refers to the choices we make under those standards and what happened thereafter. Writing the book, the author said, "We must face death, sadness, jealousy, envy, and cruelty. Even if people act against the standards set by society, we know why. Here, you can find comfort and hope, and a person with a strong will can realize his or her dream despite difficult situations, and if I feel different from others, I can live like that." We cannot answer all the questions surrounding life. Therefore, life will remain a mystery at the end, but doesn't it mean that just thinking about that question can change the direction of our lives.
What did you learn, and what other choices did you make?
There are scenes in the life of "Yon," the first character to appear in the book, where he realizes for himself what he wants to do. Between the disease that he fought hard to overcome and the sadness of losing his loved one, he thinks he wants to be like a watchman. Although I know that life and death do not go at will. On the other hand, Thor's life is a little different from that. He thinks repeatedly every day to know 'who I really am'. It sinks into your own time away from people. The two look similar, but their purpose and method are completely different. All nine lives in the book are like that. We can just look at these various phases with our own eyes.
What happens to me can happen to anyone. And what happens to anyone can happen to me. Time flows fairly everywhere, and neither success nor failure is eternal. When sadness comes, it certainly comes after joy. Our lives cannot be filled with despair, nor with joy and love alone. So maybe living is a way to gauge the direction in which the wind blows. Or, while riding a bus, looking at the back of the head of the person in front of you, it may be to ponder whether the back of the head contains the same worries and concerns as me. Like the nine characters in this book, your life will last a long time. So I hope it doesn't stop. I hope you will push with your whole body with the nine characters in this book.
