『Forest Time』 is a novel in which the health of the global ecosystem is important due to climate change.

Publisher's review
Spring Summer Autumn Winter, a slow journey into the breathing nature From January, when the new year begins, to December, when the year goes by, what does the forest look like in the changing seasons? 『Forest Time』 is a picture book that warmly captures the life of a year that flows through the forest while following the daily life of a mouse living in a forest village. During the snowy January, mice spend most of their time at home. In February, when it's still cold, I put on warm clothes and walk through the misty forest, and when spring comes, I go to help the hedgehog who just woke up from hibernation. In May, I spend the day sitting under a tree and basking in the scorching sun. In June, the month of strawberries, I pick berries with a dormouse, and in November, when winter approaches, I watch the bonfire soaring in front of the fox's caravan. Take a leisurely walk in the forest, where the vitality and air of the land change every month, and savor the nature given to you. 『Time in the Woods』 is a picture book like a rest, giving you a comfortable time for a walk as if you were walking in the forest. A picture book with detailed information about the plants that make up the forest and the animals that live in the forest. Even in winter when all life seems to be dead, if you look closely at the trees, you can see sprouts sprouting. In March, you can find traces of spring everywhere, especially the yellow daffodils, which are bright and stand out. In the fall, when the forest becomes colorful, you can find acorns and hazelnuts, pine cones thickly piled on the ground, and fungi and mushrooms growing on the trees. 『Forest Time』 is an information picture book that easily tells you what kind of scenery you will encounter every month when you go to the forest and what characteristics of animals and plants you can see in the forest. Take a look at the plants and animals that make up the forest, and if you ever go to the forest, listen carefully and take a closer look. You will find traces of breathing flowers, grass, trees, and various animals.
What do forest animal houses look like? An exciting flap book that nurtures the imagination The animal houses of the forest village come in all shapes and sizes. The gray squirrel's house is built on a tree, so you have to climb a ladder. The river flows in front of the otter's house, so it's nice to have a cool swim in the hot summer. Badgers are gardening, and in August, carrots and pumpkins are harvested. Also, if you look closely at the house, you can imagine what each animal likes. There are a lot of books in the mouse's house. Hedgehog's house has knitting supplies such as yarn, while Otter's house has a picture frame of fish. The red squirrel likes to play, so there are many instruments in the house, such as guitars and violins. Open the wings folded in the book to see the house scenery of various animals with unique characteristics. A quiet forest time drawn with beautiful watercolors, a picture book that supports life in nature, 『Forest Time』 is a picture book that captures the journey of a mouse walking at a slow pace with soft rhyme and inimitable lyrical pictures by Alice Melvin. Alice Melvin, winner of the BookTrust Best New Illustrator Award, spent over a year in nature to paint this book, observing animals and plants, and creating pictures that capture the characteristics of plants and animals that she has learned through observation. 『Forest Time』 is a warm-hearted support for the slow life spent in nature outside the city center at a time when the world continues to lead a closed life due to the corona pandemic. The story of slowly and diligently savoring the given nature and watercolor paintings resembling the pristine nature of this book will take us to a more comfortable and quiet forest time than ever before. Recommendation 『Time in the Forest』 is a picture book that helps children not only tell stories from fairy tales to children in an era when the health of the earth's ecosystem is important due to climate change, but also helps children to meet the world of forests and animals and plants vividly. The artist vividly describes various flowers, trees and animals, including pine and cherry trees, which are commonly found in forests, through writing and drawing, giving children an opportunity to learn and feel nature indirectly. In particular, it anthropomorphizes mice, hedgehogs, and badgers living in the forest, showing how forest animals live for a year. I recommend reading 『Time in the Woods』 to readers who want to go on a trip into the forest. _ Choi Young-tae (Director of the National Arboretum)
