경기도 수원에서 태어나 노동자, 농민 등 일하고 저항하는 사람들의 삶과 목소리를 목판화에 담아 왔습니다. 『나는 농부란다』를 쓰고 그렸으며, 『장기려, 우리 곁에 살다 간 성자』 『놀아요 선생님』 『신들이 사는 숲속에서』 『프란치스코와 프란치스코』 등에 그림을 그렸습니다. 여기저기에서 열세 번의 개인전도 열었습니다.

What penetrates more than 50 writings and paintings divided into three chapters is a surprisingly deep and warm ecological sensibility and a mind trying to look into the essence of all objects that have approached the artist. The works in the first chapter, 'A Miraculous Thing', have something in common: 'land' and 'motherhood'. The perseverance and wisdom of a child who wants to become a farmer or an old man with dark ears and eyes, the greatness of work accomplished by sincerity, and the wonder of motherhood are depicted. The second chapter, 'This Flower, That Flower' contains respect for the natural environment, seasonal changes, and companion animals, as well as non-human animals, seen through the artist's eyes. In the third chapter, 'Remembering Heart', works that explain the modifiers of dispatched artists and on-site artists who follow the artist are collected. Daechu-ri, Gangjeong, Yongsan, Miryang, Gwanghwamun, the bereaved families of the Sewol ferry, workers of Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, Ssangyong Motors, and Cort Cortek, wherever voices are needed, are mainly traces of solidarity through art. The artist said in an interview a few years ago that “art is talking about oneself” and that “a desire to see the truth is at the bottom of art appreciation”. It reminds me of the philosophy of American contemporary artist Alex Katz, who said that “art” is “how to make you see what I see”. Is that why? Yunyeop Lee's writings and paintings resemble the slow but deep and solid power of 'truth'. With a heart that cares for and respects each other, it evokes the meaning and value of all living beings.

**Return Instructions
